The Lost Wes Craven Interviews

My web developer was cleaning out his garage and found a box of all sorts of movie memorabilia he had stored and forgotten about. He was completely surprised to find two well-preserved cassette tapes that had been given to him by Wes Craven. , We were both curious to find out what on them, but he no longer owned a cassette player. After a quick overnight order from Amazon, we had the chance to listen to them. He didn’t remember having listened to them but we were totally excited to find out what they held.

The tapes are from two separate interviews Wes gave to regional radio stations when he was promoting 3 projects. He had just published his first novel (“The Fountain Society”), had directed a non-horror film with none other than Meryl Streep (“Music of the Heart”), and was putting the final edits into SCREAM 3. A very busy time for Wes!

In these interviews, he digs deep into his personal history and how he got into filmmaking, his inspirations for “The Last House on The Left”, “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, and of course his work on the  Scream films (which he insisted at the time was only going to be a trilogy!).

We’re excited to bring these to you. They bring back a lot of great memories as well as providing insight into the mind of a master writer and filmmaker.

Episode 1: Wes talks about how he prepared Drew for the iconic opening scene I filmed with her. That terror was real!

Episode 2: Wes talks about how he was inspired by a news story to create “A Nightmare on Elm Street”

Episode 3: Wes talks about how a chilling childhood scare and some research in helped him to create the iconic character of Freddy Krueger
